All the News That's Fit to Blog.

This week has been all sorts of exciting already, and it's only Wednesday!
  • On Dancing with the Stars this week there was all sorts of drama, both the good and bad kind.  There are tears every season, but this year, they even came before the first elimination!  Oh, how exciting already.  ABC sure knows how to edit capture dramatic moments.  My personal fave was, you guessed it, Kate Gosselin.  I can't stand this woman any way-- she is a controlling, manipulative person who loves to be the victim.  This week, her antics actually prompted Tony (who may be the nicest, most patient male pro on the show) to say those famous words-- "I quit."  When he comes back, she says the most cringe-worthy line of the night: "Thank you for coming back.  I've had a lot of people quit on me in life."  Cue the violins.....  Oh puh-leaze.  I wish ABC gave the option to vote AGAINST a dancer.  Sadly, we'll have to watch her stumble around another week because Shannen Doherty was given the boot instead.  Oh, well.
  • Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz are teaming up again for a new movie, Knight and Day.  Now, I have a hatred serious dislike of Tom and Cameron.  We all know the ridiculousness that is Tom Cruise.  And, Cameron Diaz just annoys me.  But this movie actually looks funny.  I'll be interested to see how it actually turns out.
  • I saw this headline and literally laughed out loud -- "Critics Slam Miley for 'Stiff, Unconvincing' Acting in New Film."  Seriously, how is this news?  OF COURSE she's stiff and unconvincing.  It's MILEY CYRUS, people!  Have you not been paying attention the last few years?  The New York Times says (and for once gets something right), "Acting, for the moment at least, seems almost entirely beyond her... she pouts, slouches, storms in and out of rooms and occasionally cracks a snaggle-toothed smile, but most of the time she seems to be mugging for the camera, play-acting rather than exploring the motives and feelings of her character."  The New York Post seems to think that she only has "approximately one-and-a-half expressions."  (Note to Emily-- they should've gotten Julia Stiles.  At least she has two full, if not entirely distinct, expressions.)  How is this girl famous??
  • Madonna is creating a teen clothing line called "Material Girl."  However, the original Material Girl herself doesn't have time to design the clothes.  Who is designing, you ask?  Her daughter.  Her THIRTEEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.  So many things race through my head when I read this:  Do they not have child labor laws wherever Madonna is living these days?  How is a 13 year old mature enough to have such responsibility?  She's letting a child create clothes that she's willing to put her name on?  Wow, how nice it would be if my parents had had zillions of dollars to give me an entire company to play with as a toy when I was a preteen....
  • Tonight on American Idol was sad.  You people are going to want to throw something at me, but let me explain before you get too excited:  I like Tim Urban.  Yeah, yeah-- he's not the best singer.  That's pretty obvious.  However, I don't think he's the total disaster that the judges say (unlike Siobhan last night, Paige the week before, and many more to come).  I like a person with a good attitude who doesn't take life, himself, or what others think too seriously.  And, let's be real-- it's not his fault he's still around.  He knows that whatever he does, the judges aren't going to like it, so he goes and sings his little heart out.  They tell him he sucks, and he moves on with a smile.  That deserves some respect.  However, tonight, he took out my girl, Didi.  And, while he personally did not do this, I (probably irrationally) blame him entirely because he was "saved" by her elimination.  On a season that I think is probably the least-talented since Fantasia Barrino/Diana DeGarmo's season, the one girl that I REALLY liked is gone.  Her performance of "Terrified" early in the Hollywood  rounds is still one of my favorite performances of the entire season.  Enjoy.
