Beach Reads.

While I was at the beach a couple weeks ago, I managed to read two great books. (My goal was three, but the second one was pretty long, so I didn't make it to three.)

First, was L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad.  This was the PERFECT beach read.  It was a great story and kept me interested enough to read it in only two days.  It ended kind of abruptly, but the sequel Pretty Little Lies (which I've already started) picks up right where LA Candy leaves off.  I found myself trying to figure out which book character matched up with the characters on The Hills.  Most of them weren't all that complicated to figure out, but I still can't decide who Scarlett is.  Lo, perhaps?  Anyone have any ideas?

And second, was The Help by Kathryn Stockett.  I had read so many reviews of this book and even picked it up to read before last week.  And all the reviews were right-- it was a great book.  I love stories that are told from multiple viewpoints-- I always feel like I get a fuller picture that way.  This story was told through the eyes of three women, two who are black maids in 1960s Alabama and one white young woman who is striving to be a journalist.  I highly recommend this book.

Have y'all read any great books recently?  If so, go link up with Heather for Book Club Friday!

  2. Okay, I absolutely have to get LA Candy. Does it leave you hanging so bad that I should buy the 2nd book at the same time so I can start it immediately? I'm slightly obsessive when I don't know how things end. Ha.

    Thank you for linking up!

  4. I love to read! I've read both of the books you mentioned, LA Candy (and also Sweet Little Lies, can't wait until I read the third and final installment). I read The Help for my book club and LOVED it. It really made me think.

  5. I'm so impressed at how LC is making such a positive name for herself. I heard her novels were actually good and I think I will put it on my summer reading list!
