I've Become a Gym Rat.

Well, at least I'm trying to.  First step was join a gym.  So, I joined The Rush last Friday! It's just two miles from my house, and it's open 24 hours a day. So no more excuses!  Plus, I got a super deal-- only $19 per month.  Can't beat that!

So, while I know it's not the same as road-running, I've started the Couch to 5k on the treadmill.  So far, I've done two days, and it's not as horrible as I remember running being.  I definitely want to run a 5k this year (and maybe a 10k as well), so this is the first step!

Oh, and The Rush has a TON of equipment.  I know people have had a lot of success with kettleballs, so I'm thinking I should find some kettleball workouts online to do too.

Any recommendations of fun workouts to do at the gym?  Or any songs that I MUST add to my workout playlist?


  1. AWESOME!! Sounds like you have quite the gym membership-- Exciting!! The gym that we go to in right in between home and work, so it's so convenient to hit it up every morning.   3. I started with the Couch to 5K in the fall...I had to give it up b/c at that time I wasn't in a gym and it was too cold and too dark to do it. Now I'm trying a walk 2 mins, run 1 min rotation to get in to the running mode! My goal is the Ardmore 5K in October! :)

    Oh and Dylan downloaded a lot of Toby Mac on his Zune...which transferred when I finally got iTunes to install on my computer...some of his stuff is GREAT work out music!

  5. Great job joining a gym!! The C25K plan is great, I did it last year on a treadmill also, and it worked fine. I did have to get used to running outside once my plan was over, but it only took a little time then I felt better, so there's encouragement for ya! A 5k is a great goal, I know you can do it! Keep us updated!

  6. I love the gym and love that you are training for a 5k- you are going to love it! Running really does become addicting!

    My advice would just be to switch it up a lot at the gym so you dont get bored, but I dont have any workout in mind- ill keep thinking!

  7. I would love to do a 5K! I have bad knees though, so I'm not sure how well I would hold up!!

  8. Yay for gym time! I really need to get my booty back in gear. I actually quit the gym because I was going to the yoga studio more than the gym. I figured, why not just pay for what I'm going to actually use. But now, embarrassingly enough, I haven't been to yoga in a few weeks. I am so ready for summer - it's when I work out the most!

    Kettle balls are fantastic..I bet you could find a few different exercises for them online or check youtube!
