Epic Weekend Recap.

Last week, we left off with the anticipation of Donny's trip here to North Carolina.  I picked him up at the airport on Thursday afternoon.  We hung around in Durham for a bit before heading to dinner with my parents.  Yes, we had dinner with my parents on the first day of his trip.  It was pretty great-- he and my parents really hit it off.  Oh, and we found out that my dad had been stalking him on facebook.  Fun times.  :)

Friday, we decided to go to the mountains for the day.  So, we headed to Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain.  (Side note: if you're ever around the NC mountains looking for something to do for a few hours or a half day, go to Blowing Rock.  The park itself is super cute and only $6 to get in and walk around.  Then head downtown to walk around in some really great, unique shops.  Oh, and don't forget to get some ice cream and/or fudge at Kilwin's.)  The weather was perfect for an outdoorsy day.  Donny is a picture-taking machine, which is great since I am not and always end up wishing later that I had taken more pictures.

Grandfather Mountain has always scared me to death because it is famous for its "Mile High Swinging Bridge," and this girl does NOT do heights.  But, I managed to make it across without dying, hallelujah.

Saturday, we went to my favorite place in the whole world-- Chapel Hill.  I showed him around the campus, he bought an obscene amount of Tar Heel gear, and we made our way to Kenan Stadium for the game.

Tyler Hansbrough & Tyler Zeller sighting!!

The weather on Saturday was not so perfect-- I thought it was crazy, sweaty hot.  (Hence my unruly hair in this pic...)  But we had a blast anyway.

The rest of the weekend went by in a blur.  We went to church and lunch with my parents again on Sunday.  Watched a lot of How I Met Your Mother, baseball, tennis, and some movies.

And then before I knew it, Tuesday morning was here and I had to take him back to the airport to fly far, far away from me.  :(

But we had an amazing time.  And, I'll be heading to Dallas in less than two months to see him again.  Can't wait.

  7. Yay!!! Glad you guys had a great weekend! I told Joe on Saturday that you guys must have been at the game because you weren't tweeting it. ;-) I don't know how you crossed that bridge either! I am TERRIFIED of heights and bridges like that would almost certainly give me a heart attack. =P
