Dallas -- Take Two.

Two weekends ago, I traveled halfway across the country to visit Donny.  It had been six weeks since his visit here, which was like an eternity.  The next few weeks until I see him again hopefully will be seem shorter with the big things going on in the mean time (Thanksgiving, Christmas musical weekend at church, a big trial at work, etc.).

The trip itself was fantastic.  I got in LATE Thursday night just as Game Two of the World Series had ended.  (Funny story-- I actually had a layover in St. Louis during the game and we flew right over Busch Stadium while it was going on.  It was pretty cool to see.)

Friday, we went to the Texas State Fair with some of our friends.  It was such a blast!  I have a paralyzing fear of heights, but I promised Donny that I'd ride the crazy huge ferris wheel with him.  And it actually wasn't so bad-- the one here at our county fair was worse.  The Texas Star has pretty secure cages, and it went around fairly slowly.  All in all, not very terrifying.

Aren't we cute?  :)

Awesome view of downtown Dallas from the ferris wheel

For some reason, Donny didn't like this hat...

My Dallas ladies!

Saturday, I hung out with Rachel while Donny was in class.  We went shopping, and I had my first Taco Cabana experience.  Holy cow, that was yummy.  I've been craving a breakfast taco EVERY SINGLE DAY since I got back.  :(  I really need to open a franchise here in NC...

Then Saturday night, Donny and I went to dinner, watched The Conspirator (great movie, btw, if you like history), and then the Rangers massacre game.

On Sunday, we went to Donny's church in Cleburne (for a while there, I thought he might be taking me out to the middle of nowhere to kill me and dispose of my body where no one could find it...).  I met dozens of people at his church who were super nice.  Then, we went to his "grandparents'" house for lunch, and I met his mom and sister, who were so, so great.

And, I spent the rest of the day/evening trying not to be super sad that the fact that my minutes with Donny were rapidly coming to an end.  I was not entirely successful...

The 3:30am wake up call came MUCH too early on Monday, and I was at Love Field by 4:30am to fly far, far away.  :(

All in all, it was an amazing trip, and I can't wait to go back and see him again.

  2. Glad you decided to ride the ferris wheel! I didn't get to go this year, but I had a blast at the TX state fair last year! :) Also, Taco Cabana is one of our favorite places. Their margaritas are also amazing if you're a fan of those.
