What I'm Loving Wednesday.

Today, there's really only one thing occupying my mind.  And that is that this boy from Texas will be here with me in NC in 24 hours.

And this girl could not be more excited.

Tuesday Tunes.

It's been a while since I've done a Tuesday Tunes.  So today, I thought I'd share some of my favorite songs from my college years.

When I was in college, Five for Fighting and Maroon 5 were two of my absolute favorite bands.  "Songs About Jane" (Maroon 5) and "Battle for Everything" (Five for Fighting) will always be two of my all-time favorite albums.

How cute was Adam Levine back in the day??  Well, now too obviously.

I never grew up listening to Billy Joel, but during my senior year of college I went to see Movin' Out, the broadway show with his music.  I absolutely fell in love with it and have been obsessed with Billy Joel ever since.  My favorite song of his is Vienna, with New York State of Mind a very close second. Let's be real though-- they're all amazing. One of my dreams in life is to see Billy Joel live in concert.

Enjoy!  :)

Why Work When You Can Watch Tennis?

I cannot believe that it's taken me this long to share the pics from the ATP tennis tournament last Tuesday!  My dad went with me, and we had a GREAT time.  First thing when we walked in the gate, we encountered this guy on the practice courts!!

Hellooooooo, Andy Roddick!

After my dad drug me away I got my Andy Roddick fill, we walked around the grounds for a bit before the first match started.  The center court stadium is literally feet outside of the Wake Forest University football stadium.  They used the concession stands for the football stadium, but I could definitely tell we were at a tennis tournament, not a football game.  On the menu was caesar salad, salmon, grilled chicken sandwiches, etc.  No hot dogs, hamburgers, or nachos for these people!!  Hahaha.  Only downside was that my tea was $6.  But the tickets were free, so I didn't feel too bad about it.

I got our tickets through my boss, and they were unbelievable seats-- third row right in the middle of the court.

My lovely friend Emily let me borrow her big floppy hat.  This pale fair-skinned girl will take all the sun protection she can get when outside for six hours.  I thought I'd look silly with it because it is HUGE, but oddly enough, this hat was not the biggest one there!

We got to see Nikolay Davydenko (former top five player on the tour), Americans Michael Russell and James Blake, and finally the local hero John Isner, who ended up winning the whole tournament on Saturday.

We had such a blast, the weather was perfect, and the tournament was so well organized.  Can't wait to go again next year!

Recent Acquisitions.

I looked at my credit card statement yesterday and realized I had spent almost no money this month.  Obviously, I had to fix that!  So I picked up some goodies yesterday.  Well, some good, some okay.

First up, OPI "Pink Before You Leap."  I love love love this color!  It's a sheer peachy pink with silver sparkle.  Absolutely gorgeous.  This photo is two coats.

I also got Benefit They're Real mascara, which has been on my to-try list since it was released.

However, I'm not super excited about the results.  On the one hand, it does give some serious volume (as you can see here).  And it lengthens well too.  BUT, it's kinda clumpy even with just one coat.  Don't even think about a second coat unless you have a lash comb handy.  Plus, it weighs down the curl almost completely.  I'm going to play around with it for at least another day or two, but sadly I think this will be going back to Sephora.
(Please ignore the unkempt brow-- they will be fixed soon.)

Then, I stopped at Bath & Body Works (it's impossible for me to walk by that place without going in).  I had a coupon for a free item with a $10 purchase, AND they were running their buy 2, get 1 free promotion.  So it ended up being buy 2, get 2 free!  I really wanted to try the Paris Amour scent, but wasn't a huge fan.  So, I got some of the Carried Away items, which smell SOOOOO good.

But the best purchase of the day was a big jar of Moroccan Oil.  I absolutely adore this stuff.  I bought a small bottle a few months ago and completely fell in love.  It just ran out, so I bought the big bottle this time.  (Bonus: the big bottle comes with a pump, which is so much easier to dispense than having to open the cap every time.)

My curly hair is really dry and can get very coarse, but this magical elixir makes it so soft and manageable.  You can (and I do) use it on both wet and dry hair.

So yeah, I definitely made up for my slow shopping month yesterday.  Any products I should put on my list for next time??

Fall is Coming.

The scene outside my house this weekend:

It's slight, but green leaves are starting to turn yellow.  And some leaves are starting to fall to the ground.

Hallelujah, fall is coming soon!!

Scientific Research.

I've noticed a trend in reality tv recently, which makes me wonder about reality.  (Because reality tv mirrors real life, duh.)  In the last two months, I've seen two separate (and polar opposite) men ask their dates if permission to kiss her.

First was Lucas, the Texas gentleman from the Bachelorette.

Second was Gary, weird New Yorker guy from Millionaire Matchmaker last night.

Gary Mancuso Jr.

Both of these seemingly put-together men asked their dates permission to kiss them before they did.  Of course, the women said yes. (Because who says no to that question on a date even if she really would like to?  Awkward.)  I think they both had different rationales-- Texas Lucas because he's a sweet guy who genuinely didn't want to cross any lines and NY Gary because he's weird and much less confident than he seemed.

So, my question to you ladies is this:  Who wants to be asked before kissed?  Before you answer, let's assume a few things.  One, this is not some skeeze that approaches you in a bar/club.  It's a guy you've actually met and agreed to go out with.  And two, it's at the end of the date where you have (in theory) had a conversation.

I'm genuinely curious to hear what y'all think.  I'll keep my opinion to myself for now, so as not to skew the results.  But my prediction is that less than 1/3 (maybe even less than 1/4) of women want to be asked first.

Football Season is Coming.

Football season is rapidly approaching, and this girl could not be more excited.  There is nothing I love more in the fall than spending Saturdays either at football games or at home with ESPN Gameday going all day.

My fave team is of course my alma mater, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

Chapel Hill is my favorite place in the world, and being there on gamedays are even more exciting for me.  An hour before the game, the team does the "Well Walk" from the Old Well through campus to get to Kenan Stadium (which is literally smack in the middle of the UNC campus).

The marching band then leads the crowd behind the team to the stadium.  This is my favorite part-- it's amazing.  (Yes, I was a band geek in college.)

And then we land in Kenan Stadium!

Two years ago, I had season tickets.  But ticket prices have gone WAAAAAY up, so I don't have them any more.  :(  But, I just got my tickets yesterday for the season opener on September 3.  I'm so stoked!!

Oh, and this post would not be complete without mentioning my second favorite football team-- the Florida Gators.  Fortunately for me, UNC and Florida never collide, so there's no conflict.  :)

Gator hat courtesy of my dear friend Emily for my birthday last year.  Lol.

True Life: I'm a Life Blogger.

This week has been crazy link-up week here on my blog.  So why not continue the trend and join in with Tara and Mrs. Monologues?

True Life

I definitely fall into the "general life" blog category.  More like "random stuff" category, but we'll go with "general life" since it sounds prettier.

A little about me and my blog:  I'm a 20-something attorney from North Carolina.  I love Jesus, my family and friends, sports, TV, and more.  You'll read about all of these topics here.

I started my blog in the spring of 2010 and never thought that it would literally change my life.  But it absolutely has.  I love my blogging/twitter friends (which I lump into the same category even if they don't have a blog) so much.

If you're new here, I recommend these high-traffic posts to catch up!  :)

(not popular at all obviously, but important nonetheless)

And of course some of my all-time most popular posts
are the ones about the Bachelorette and Bachelor.

And if you really want to learn more about me, these posts will give you more info than you ever wanted.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my crazy ramblings!  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Joey + Pacey 4EVER.

Boob Tube Babble

There's been a bit of a debate on twitter and facebook over who was the best couple:  Dawson and Joey or Pacey and Joey.  I don't really understand the debate.  It's Pacey and Joey... duh.  Trust me-- I've watched the series at least 10 times.

But just in case you won't take my word for it, check it out here:

"We're supposed to have our own history."

"I can't keep kissing you."

"I remember everything..."

"I miss you, Pace."

"The simple act of being in love with you has been enough for me."

See??  Team Pacey!

It's Okay.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's totally okay...

... to fantasize about and "plan" trips to far away places even though they're not even remotely in the budget.

... to go to the store wearing Tar Heels shorts, a Gators hoodie, and a Yankees hat all at the same time.

... to start multiple books before you've finished reading the first one.

... to take pictures of stupid people without their knowledge so you can mock them with all your friends.

(dude was wearing his helmet on the top of his head in our office... true story.)

... to be super excited about the new season of Bachelor Pad and it's three hour premiere Monday night.  (Yes, you read that right-- THREE HOURS!)

... to have dishes in the dishwasher that have been clean for three weeks without emptying it.

... to reward myself for not spending money on dinner by stopping at Starbucks the next morning.

... to talk to blog/twitter friends more most some days than IRL friends.

More Stuff I Clearly Need.

I posted in June about the stuff that I need.  And thanks to Pinterest, there's even more stuff now.  My Pinterest addiction is getting a little out of control...

Cloud necklace-- so, so cute!

This short girl must have these heels.

The perfect size clutch!

I've never been a major fan of monograms, but I do love this one.
And the case is Carolina blue?  Yes please!

And of course, my list would not be complete without an item from Tiffany's.
I think I love this infinity ring more than the silver bow ring from my last post!
