2011 in Review.

2011 is at an end.  I'm always a little sad that another whole year has gone by.  But, this year has been the best year I've had in a long time.  So, while I am sad to see it over, I am very excited for 2012.

Here are some of the highlights of the last six months.  (You can read all about the first six months here.)

July started off with a bang with the Casey Anthony verdict and my not-so-popular opinion.

The USA women's soccer team lost in the World Cup finals, but Derek Jeter got his 3000th hit!

I showed some twitter love and shared my "list."

And my BFF Emily turned the big 2-7.

I listed some of my fave things and made the convincing case for Pacey and Joey (NOT Dawson).

There was some very scientific research on kissing conducted.

And I hung out with Andy Roddick and watched some tennis.

September was awesome because Donny came to visit me!

Fall tv premiere week had me giddy.

My first Week in Numbers post-- including some beautiful flowers.  :)

My Erin Condren planner arrived!

Then, things got super crazy at work.

I decorated a pumpkin.

Flew to Dallas to visit Donny.

And went a tad crazy in the Sephora Friends and Family sale.

I made my final TV cuts for the year.

November always means Katie's Sexiest Men list!

Carolina basketball started.

Amanda and I started planning her wedding with some mountain adventures.

And spent Thanksgiving week being thankful, spending time with family, shopping and seeing The Muppets.

This month, I set out to re-name my blog to go with a re-design from Jenn!!

I spent a semi-covert weekend in Dallas with my love.

And had a very merry Christmas and birthday with my family.  :)

All in all, a pretty fantastic year, if I do say so myself!

It's Okay and Christmas Pics!

Its Ok Thursdays

I haven't linked up with Amber and Neely in a while, and today the perfect day for it!  It's totally okay...

... to not want to go out for New Year's and stay home in my PJ's but at the same time not want to be by myself.

... to be on the edge of my seat for my new blog design.  (The first draft from Jenn looks AH-MAZING!)

... to be pretty excited that I have five weeks straight of short work weeks.

... to have over 70 unwatched episodes of Boy Meets World on my DVR because they record much faster than I can watch them.

... to want to spend my Christmas bonus money on something extravagant like an iPad, a new TV, or a DSLR camera even though I know I should be more responsible.

... to FINALLY be posting pics Christmas almost a week later!

 The Fam

My mom says she knows my dad is getting older because almost everything on his Christmas list was food. Hahaha!

Don't know why all the pictures of my brother are him with something in front of his face...

My mom's gorgeous Christmas tree

My dad's famous country ham and biscuits-- a Christmas morning tradition at our house

Some of my fave gifts!

Oh yes, Happy Birthday to me!!
Yum, birthday cake...

A Big Thank You and a Winner.

First, thank you ALL for your suggestions for my blog name.  I have FINALLY decided on one, and I have FINALLY remembered to drawn for the winner of the gift card!

I had a brief bit of trouble in the beginning because the first winner was Donny.

But, I disqualified him and drew again.

The winner this time was Vicki at My Vickilicious Life!!

Congrats, Vicki!  Let me know which one you want-- target, starbucks, or sephora!  :)

Thanks again for all of your help!  Can't wait for the new name and revamped blog design after the first of the year!

That Time I Went to Dallas and Didn't Tell Anyone.

I know I've been MIA a lot this month.  So, I'll try to catch you up on the big stuff.  Like, oh yes-- I went to Dallas a few weekends ago.  :)

I got off the plane on Thursday night, and we went straight to Walmart.  Don't judge-- I had to get Christmas wrapping materials on the cheap!  While there, I saw something I've never seen before in my life...

A pig head!  People really eat the face of a pig??  Holy cow.  I was shocked.  And yes, I took a picture of other people's groceries while in line.  How could I not?  Walmart never fails to disappoint when I need some entertainment.  :)  After that, we went home, and Donny gave me my birthday present, which was two framed sketch prints-- one of Paris and one of New York.  They were GORGEOUS, and I love them.  Sadly, I had to leave them behind because they were too big for my suitcase.  And I forgot to take a picture of them.  Pictures will forthcoming in January-- once Donny gets here with them and hangs them for me. ;)

Friday morning, Donny had to work for a few hours, which meant I got to ride around in his awesome, huge truck!  It was so fun, and I got a small glimpse into how he spends most of his days.

After that, we headed to NorthPark Center because I HAD to go to Sephora.  I had left a vitally important item at home-- my MUFE foundation.  Couldn't very well go all weekend without it!  (I also forgot to take a jacket since it was 70 degrees when I left home, even though it was only in the 50s in Dallas.  Awesome.)  Then, we had lunch with some of my favorite Texas peeps at Taco Cabana.  I absolutely love that place!

Friday evening, we went to Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth (a city I love way more than Dallas-- sorry Dallas folks!).  We had dinner, wandered around some shops, spent a while in Barnes & Noble, had our picture taken in front of the big Christmas tree, then went to see Sherlock Holmes.

A cowboy riding a horse inside B&N-- yep, I'm in Texas!

After we got home Friday night, we had our Christmas.  Donny gave me a beautiful necklace and a Yankees shirt. Yes, he actually purchased Yankees gear for me!  Now that is love. :)

Saturday, we went to Cleburne for most of the day.  We had planned to meet up with his dad and stepmom, but his dad had to work out of town.  I was a little bummed, but it just meant that we got to see his "grandparents" and mom for a while, whom I adore.  All went well until I had a horrible bad minor allergic reaction to his mom's cat.  I sneezed and coughed uncontrollably, my face swelled up, and I started wheezing-- just what you want to be doing while hanging out with your boyfriend's mother for the second time ever.  So, we had to skedaddle to CVS to get me some allergy drugs pronto.  After I got medicated, we drove around Cleburne for a bit-- it is SUCH a cute town!  They have one of the most beautiful courthouses I've ever seen.  (#lawyernerd)

Hulen Park in Cleburne has a huge Christmas light display that we drove by.  So pretty!

Sunday, we got up and went to church in Cedar Hill then came home and watched football for a while.  For dinner, we went to Johnny Carino's, which is one of my fave restaurants of all time.  And we wandered around Target and Kohl's for a while, as I was trying to find some inspiration for Christmas gifts for my family.

Then, much too quickly, Monday was here, and it was time for me to to get on a plane.  :(  To console myself, we stopped and got a cupcake from Gigi's (far better than Sprinkles or Crumbs, in my opinion...).

It didn't handle the turbulence well on the first leg of the trip.
But it was still tasty!

And just like that, I was back at RDU and driving home.  We had an amazing time, as usual.  :)  And, one of the best parts of this trip is that it was less than four weeks from when I left until Donny comes here!

Christmas Q&A.

I am seriously lacking good blog post ideas. So today, I'm jumping on the Christmas survey bandwagon. :)

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Both. I love to wrap presents and make them pretty. But some stuff just goes better in a bag.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Real-- definitely. I don't have a real tree in my house this year, but it's absolutely my preference. My mom's is gorgeous as always.

3. When do you put up the tree? Ideally, the weekend after Thanksgiving. Or earlier if it's a late Thanksgiving.

4. When do you take the tree down? Sometime around New Years (or you know, whenever I get around to it...)

5. Do you like eggnog? I don't think I've ever had it, but I don't feel the need to try it.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?  Oh wow... I got some cool stuff when I was a kid, so it's hard to pick my favorite.  But I vividly remember coming downstairs to find all five of these beauties under the tree for me.

Yes, my parents got me the NKOTB dolls, and I was beyond excited about them!

7. Do you have a nativity scene? I have a little one that my mom bought me this year. It's super cute and not a huge multi-piece one that would take up way more space than I have.

8. Hardest person to buy for? It's a toss up between my brother and my dad.

9. Easiest person to buy for? This year it was Donny-- I had a million ideas for him and had to stop myself from buying everything I found. Even after we exchanged gifts last weekend and I was shopping today for my family, I found more stuff for him. Haha

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Neither although I love getting them in the mail. :)

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? One year my aunt and uncle gave me a "scarf," which was literally a piece of felt that my cousins had cut "fringe" on the end. True story.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? The Charlie Brown Christmas-- I watch it every year and LOVE it!!

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? It varies. This year, I am super late, but I've been done at this time of year before.

14. Ever recycled a Christmas present? I'm sure I have, but I don't remember what it was.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My birthday cake! (Yes, I was born on Christmas Day)

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? White/clear lights-- definitely.

17. Favorite Christmas song? Christmastime is Here

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? I always stay home. 90% of my family lives within 20 minutes of each other, so we have never traveled far. It makes things so much easier.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Let's see: Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixin, and Rudolph!
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? A ribbon bow.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning-- we used to go to one of my grandmother's on Christmas Eve, but not anymore. My parents, brother and I do Christmas morning at my parents' house then head to my other grandmother's house for lunch on Christmas Day.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Hands down-- traffic. I live very close to a huge shopping area in my city, and it gets insane this time of year.

23. Favorite ornament, theme, or color? I've done a blue/silver theme and a red/silver theme. I loved both of those, but I think the red/silver is my favorite.

24. What do you want for Christmas this year? If I could have anything, it would be plane tickets. Or an iPad. Or a Nikon D3100. You know, nothing big. :)
