Easter Weekend Recap.

There's not much better in this universe than long weekends!  Ours was great.  Friday, we woke up and I made us both breakfast in bed.  Hash browns, fruit salad, and bacon.  Yum yum!
We were both still trying to get over the cold that has plagued our house this past week, so we relaxed at home most of the day.  We watched a lot of basketball, read books, and napped.  We did make it out of the  house for dinner at the Olive Garden!  They have a 2 for $25 special going, so I was excited that we'd be able to get out of there relatively cheaply!  And after our salad, breadsticks, and appetizer, I think I ate four bites of my dinner before I was ready to box it up.  We ended up bringing home more than we ate!  Two meals for the price of one.  Score.

Saturday, we slept in for a while then went to pick up some of our furniture that my friend Emily had at her apartment.  She's moving this week, so we had to get our stuff out.  And of course, to make room for said furniture, we spent a while cleaning out some junk in our spare bedroom to take to goodwill.  That room had been needing our attention for a while.  It still does, but we made some good progress in there.  We also made a trip to the library (because, you know, I needed more library books...) before we went to the theater to see Admission.  I didn't have the highest hopes for this movie since neither Tina Fey or Paul Rudd are my favorites, but I really liked it!  And the two of them were actually great.  It was sweet and cute and funny.  Definitely worth seeing.
After the movie, we came home, and I finished the worst book ever.  I was SO annoyed with this book by the end.  If it had been a real book (instead of on our kindle), I probably would've thrown it across the room.  Apparently the movie is horrible too, (according to my Instagram friends) but I'd expect that if it follows the plot of this book.  Do yourself a favor and don't read it.  Or see the movie.

Sunday morning came very early.  I always play in all three of our church's worship services on Easter Sunday, and this weekend was no different.  So, I got to church by 7:30am, which is before I usually wake up on a normal Sunday.  (But really, is there a better day than Easter Sunday to spend some extra time in God's house?)  Between the early and middle service, the orchestra has a covered dish breakfast, which is always super fun.  My family came to the middle service, so I sat with them for that one.  Then after service #3, I met up with them for brunch with my grandma.  We went to a new place, where I got the cinnamon bun french toast and a mimosa!  Possibly the strongest mimosa in history too...
Since my grandma's birthday is Tuesday, we went back to her house after brunch for birthday cake and presents.  While trying to fix her DVD player, I discovered that she had all three seasons of Downton Abbey!!  (She loves all things British, so I really should have assumed that she had them...)  So, of course I had to borrow them!  I can't wait to get started watching them this week.
The rest of the afternoon was spent watching basketball (again) and waiting for the Ranger baseball game to start.  Of course, we all know that real baseball (aka Yankees baseball) starts today.  But last night, I could support my husband's favorite team.
All in all, it was a pretty great weekend. Lots of time to read and relax, but some good family time too.  I'd call it a success!

Happy Opening Day everyone!  Hope your weekend was fantastic too.  :)

  2. I said this on your Instagram I think, but be prepared for a whole lot of time spent in front of the tv watching Downton. It's SO good! I'm actually sad that I'm done with Season 3 and don't have it to watch anymore until the new season starts!
