This Weekend, I...

So, another weekend has come and gone.  And now it's Monday again.  Our weekend was pretty full and lots of fun. But busy Sundays always leave me feeling like I need another day to recover before going back to work!  Too bad I couldn't have today off of work too...  Oh well.  Friday is only a few days away.

This weekend, I...

... watched baseball.  Of course.  Thursday night, I spent the evening in bed watching the Yankees on one computer screen while watching real shows on the tv.  This is pretty much how I'll spend evenings for the entirety of baseball season.  Although sometimes it's one baseball game on the computer and another baseball game on tv...  (ps-- Did y'all watch this week's Big Bang Theory??  It was my favorite half-hour of television in a long time.  I was DYING laughing!)

Friday, I left work early, and we headed to Hickory to see the Crawdads play. The Hickory Crawdads are the Class-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, so Donny was especially excited to see them.  We will, of course, be going back when the Charleston RiverDogs (the Yankee's Class-A affiliate) come to Hickory!  The ballpark was really cute, and we had a lot of fun.  It did, however, get pretty cold after the sun went down, so we had to leave in the 8th inning before frostbite set in...

... read my husband's blog.  Yes, you read that right-- Donny has a blog.  He hasn't posted on it in about a year and a half, but he did on Saturday.  After all the Josh Hamilton drama over the off-season and this weekend while the Angels were in Texas, he was getting pretty frustrated, and I don't blame him.  The Yankees get a lot of flak for their fans being rude or fickle or whatever, but the behavior of most of the Rangers fans this weekend was nothing short of atrocious.  When the wife of an opposing player is afraid for the safety of her children in the ballpark, there's a problem.  I don't care what Josh Hamilton has said-- his choices don't give others license to act poorly.  You can read Donny's thoughts here.

... finished another book.  I'm already at 20 books read for the year!!  Last year, I read 26 books total, and this year I'm almost there before the end of April!  My original goal for this year was to read 30 books, but I've increased that to 50.  Donny's been reading like a machine too, and DVRs definitely feel neglected.  Both the ones in the living room and the bedroom are starting to fill up... Haha.

Several of my books recently have been read on our kindle because I can get them quicker from the library that way.  But I encountered one of the biggest problems of kindle reading instead of paper book reading this weekend when it died on me just when I got to the good part of the story!!  I love the convenience of the kindle, but it just can't beat a real book.

... went to Martinsville for the race!  Sunday, we got up bright and early to head to my parents' house to meet them to go to the NASCAR race in Martinsville.  My dad and I have been to this race at least ten times over the last several years (including last April), but this was Donny's first trip to the track and my mom's first race anywhere in probably 15 years!
My dad and I have a system when we go to the track.  We get there early, park in the same spot, then wander around the merchandise trailers and other pre-race entertainment before heading into the track.

Once we got inside the track, we found our seats and proceeded to take a gazillion pictures (like any good blogger...).

Time to go racing!
... found out that I'm going to have a new sister! During the race, my brother texted me this picture along with the caption, "She said yes before I could even ask the question!!!"
So, it looks like we're going to have another wedding in the family soon! (Of course this one will be way less stressful for me... :)) I'm so excited for Drew and Morgan as they start their lives together!!

That was our very eventful weekend!  How was everyone else's??

Mingle 240

  1. So cute he has a blog! Love it!! Haha! Looks like y'all had a great weekend... I've never been to a car race before!

  2. I am so glad I am not the only one that multi-tasks with technology! Do you ever throw your phone into the mix? I sure do! Oh, and I adore Big Bang! Stopping by from Mingle Monday!

  3. I am not going to defend the Rangers fans who allegedly said anything to Katie Hamilton and her kids but I also don't buy it. The papers here are looking for witnesses to this alleged event and whatever happened was over by the time the game started. I also saw Josh flip off the fans in Right Field last night when they were chanting Baseball Town and then tell the reporters he was making a football signal. I don't know any football team that uses that as a signal. Anyway, I am proud of the way the Rangers fans showed up at the park this weekend and I am proud of the way they handle themselves. Nobody I sat near or was with did anything but boo, cheer, and chant.

  4. Yay for Nascar...and Dale Jr!
    Yay for baseball...and the Cardinals!
Yay for I finished another book too! :)

  5. That ring is blingin'! Congrats to your brother and future sister in law! Love that news.

Also, you and D are adorable. Seriously, so darn cute.

  6. You'll definitely have to tell me the next time you're in Hickory! I've lived in the area for 9 years and STILL have not been to a Crawdads game. Terrible, I know. Sounds like you had a fun weekend!

  7. That was definitely a busy weekend!! Congratulations on your brother getting engaged! That ring is GORGEOUS!

  8. I literally laughed out loud at Donny's favorite pit box - I don't think I will ever forget him telling me about hoping the Japanese restaurant would have bacon! :)

  9. Wow you had a productive weekend! Nothing like a ball park frank ;)

  10. WOW...that ring is incredible!! Props to your bro :) And congrats to them as well!!

I am anxiously awaiting my Kindle Fire to get here TODAY!!! I really love books, the real things, but I want to read more and I think the Kindle will let me do that :)

I just commented on Donny's blog! Those crazy's sad to see them act that way.
