Relaxing Weekend.

Happy Monday, y'all! I'm so excited that this week is a short week. Only three days until a four day weekend!! This past weekend was pretty calm and relaxing (if you don't count car issues...)

Friday, I finally found 11/22/63 at the library, so I promptly checked it out and delivered it to my mother for her to read.  I've been dying for someone else near me to read this book!
Donny and I went to dinner and a movie.  We hadn't been to the movies in weeks since nothing good had been released, so I was pretty excited to get back to the theater.  Sadly, I was very disappointed with The Heat.
I really like Melissa McCarthy.  But after watching her for years as Sookie St. James on the Gilmore Girls, I can't stand her characters as some dirty, bawdy, uber-masculine woman.  And I think she does herself a disservice to play characters like this.  I know it's her career, and she can do what she wants.  But I just hate seeing her like this.
Saturday, Donny got up to play golf while I stayed home and watched Wimbledon.  Sadly, my favorite guy (Richard Gasquet) lost.  Boo.  But I did get to spend some quality time curled up with my book.
I also tried to lay out in my pool for a while, but it was cloudy all day, which just made it cold in the water.  I didn't stay out there very long.
Donny really wanted me to watch The War, which he loves.  It was really sweet and touching, but just as I suspected, it was very sad.   It did have a satisfying ending though, and that's the most important thing to me.
Sunday, we had a potluck lunch with our Sunday School class after church, and it was a blast. Almost my entire 9x13 dish of the PW's macaroni and cheese was eaten. So much for leftovers this week!

Since we didn't go to my grandma's house for lunch, we were home fairly early in the afternoon.  So, we both got a nap in while The Office played in the background.  :)
I spent some more time reading my book on Sunday afternoon, but I'm not loving it yet.  The characters are kind of annoying, and there are allusions to something bad that is coming up.  So, I'm torn between dreading something bad that's coming and wanting to find out how the story unfolds.

So, there you have it!  Our lazy, relaxing weekend.  :)

  1. It does look like you had a relaxing weekend-- so much good reading time! I hope the book improves for you soon! And I'm also counting down to Wednesday night--- yay for a 4 day weekend!

  2. I have to say that I have only seen MM in her movie roles and never watched Gilmore Girls and she just drives me crazy. I won't even go see movies with her in them. I hate myself for feeling that way about her because I WANT to like her, I really do, but I hate he characters she plays so much.

  3. I totally agree about Melissa McCarthy!!!! I loved her character on GG. I thought The Heat looked dumb in commercials. Too bad b/c I love Sandra Bullock.

  4. Ahh you didn't like The Heat!? I loved her as Sookie, too, but I love that she is branching out and playing these characters. In real life she is SUPER feminine (and she admits it!) so, as an actor, I love that she is pushing herself out of her comfort zone and playing all of these crazy characters she hasn't played in the past! And I'm sorry you couldn't lay out by the pool!

  5. I feel the same about Melissa Mcarthy!! I loved her as Sookie!!

  6. I 100% agree with the Sookie comments!
