Christmastime is Here!

The day after Thanksgiving, we went to a tree farm in the NC mountains to pick our tree.  Neither of us had ever been to a tree farm, and it was quite the adventure!  I was surprised that this tree was cheaper than the smaller one we bought off of a lot last year.  I love that it's so fresh-- you can still smell the tree smell even weeks later.
My least favorite part though is the decorating.  My mom has GORGEOUS Christmas trees, but even though I've been through Kathy's Tree Decorating School for many years, mine never seem to look as good.  But now that I have a husband, it's not particularly appropriate for my mom to come decorate my tree...  So I'm left to my own devices.  Donny does help me unwind the lights so I don't get tangled and come crashing down.
Donny posing with our tree...
Then telling me to quit taking his picture...

The finished product!!  I was actually really pleased at how it turned out!
I love collecting Christmas ornaments.  These are some of my favorites:
Our First Christmas bought in Blowing Rock last year
My mom gave me this ornament this year since my birthday is Christmas Day, and I love it so much!!
From my dad's business partner-- one of my favorite wedding pics
The Biltmore!

I really don't have that many non-tree related Christmas decorations.  Just a few things here and there:
I love this little nativity!

One more picture of the tree... :)

  5. I think it's beautiful! I would love to be able to decorate a tree like that. We have a little artificial tree for our apartment but I told my husband that one year I want to go to a tree farm and get a big, real tree, just for the experience!

  8. It looks great! And I see no problem in having mom come and help some years. She is still family even though you have Donny now, too :). Adore the nativity and I love your special ornaments. Thanks for sharing :)
