Golden Globes Wrap-Up.

I am generally not a celebrity person.  I don't read People Magazine or Us Weekly or really care about  their lives in general.  But I DO love awards shows!  So I was very excited to watch the Golden Globes this year, as always.

However, what I learned is that I need to watch more movies.  I have not seen many of the nominees!   I need to see Florence Foster Jenkins, Moonlight, and Edge of Seventeen ASAP.  Jackie will be at our indie movie theater at the end of the month, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I did watch Manchester by the Sea and La La Land.  Manchester by the Sea was very good, but very sad.  It just wasn't my favorite kind of movie.  But I absolutely LOVED La La Land.  So I was thrilled that it racked up last night.  And of course, two of my favorites-- Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone (can we talk for a second about how perfectly coordinated her dress is for both her movie and the award show??).

On the TV side, I was also thrilled that The Crown got some love with Best Drama and Best Leading Actress.  Claire Foy is truly remarkable as Queen Elizabeth II.  My brother tells me I need to watch Westworld, but I just can't get into it.

Apparently the fashion trend this year involve sleek ponytails, metallic or sheer dresses, and lots of cleavage and side-boob.  I saw more of Emily Ratajkowski, Mandy Moore, Jessica Biel, and Jessica Chastain than I ever needed to....

Also, did anyone not tell Natalie Portman that she didn't have to dress like her character, Jackie Kennedy, to come to the Golden Globes?

I have no idea what Nicole Kidman and Drew Barrymore were thinking with these...

And I know I'm in the minority here, but I hated Viola Davis and Kerry Washington's dresses.  Actually, Viola's would have been great if it were a different color.  But the yellow just looks like a giant banana.  And I don't understand Kerry's dress at all.  It's a weird length and has a bizarre mini-sash across the middle and odd brooches.  I don't get it at all.

On the other hand, the TV stars of NBC stars were smoking hot!  Sterling K. Brown and his wife Ryan Michelle Bathe were my favorite couple of the night.  Kristen Bell definitely amped up the glam and looked amazing.  And Milo was smoldering in his navy tux.

But my favorite dresses of the night were Naomie Harris, Giuliana Rancic, and Janelle Monae.  All were beautiful, feminine, and unique.  Gorgeous!

All in all, a fun night as always.  Now I just need to get to watching some movies before the Oscars roll around!
